Where I'm At

It’s April 2018. I started this blog just about two years ago now and I’ve changed in many ways since its inception. For one, I moved from living in my aunt and uncle’s basement to moving to New York City. I’ve also traveled halfway across the world to the plains of Africa, a lifelong dream. I even managed to get myself a girlfriend! There have also been not-so-good changes that have happened since then, such as losing my grandfather, now being unemployed, losing my cousin just a month and a half ago. However, I’m a firm believer that everything in this life happens for a reason, and it’s all for the greater good.

Right now, I’ve been out of work for three months. It’s been scary, nerve-wracking, and unpredictable. At the same time, it’s been liberating, adventurous, and almost thrilling. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not looking to stay unemployed forever. It’s allowed me to think about what I really want. For a while, I put off this blog and forgot about how much I loved creating content, whether that be posting on here once a week or creating a video of some kind. It’s what I live to do. I’m the type of person that likes to work hard at something and ultimately see my work be represented by something concrete in the end.

Therefore, after much consideration, I’ve decided to enroll in the Manhattan Edit Workshop. The course is a six-week all intensive full time introduction into mastering the art of using all three industry standard editing softwares, (Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere, and Avid). While looking for work some time since moving up north, I’ve come to notice that a lot of the jobs for producing nowadays require one to wear many hats when in such a role. As such, I’ve taken it upon myself, as well as the advice of some of my peers (and especially my Uncle Scott), to try and integrate myself into a particular trade/skill that could differentiate me from the pack.

As a result, I hope to increase my quality of content creation by incorporating these new skills. Already, I am editing on Adobe Premiere just to get a basic understanding before I start the workshop. The project that I’m working on though isn’t ready to be released yet, but it hopefully will at the end of the month!

In the meantime, stay tuned for many more things to come! I may even post some of my work from the workshop on here too!
